Ambrose Place is the flagship building of NiGiNan Housing Ventures. It opened in 2014 and is one of the most successful housing programs for Indigenous peoples in Alberta. The complex:

is for individuals with higher needs including mental illness, addictions, chronic health conditions, cognitive impairment, and disruptive trauma symptoms;
contains 42 supportive housing units;
includes 2-bedroom, 1-bedroom, and bachelor suites, with 10 accessible units;
provides access to cultural support and ceremony through regular visits from the NiGiNan Cultural Team as well as the on-site ceremony room;
has embedded staffing services including socialworkers, occupational and recreational therapists, and housing support workers;
provides 24/7 health care services including coordinated pharmacy services;
offers specialized programs for managed alcohol and cannabis use (a.k.a. MAP and MCP programs); and
is located close to public transit and downtown in the McCauley neighborhood.

Our 42-unit supportive living home offers residents safety, dignity and stability. The community facilities located on the first floor are available for use by all residents.

In 2006, before developing the operating framework for Ambrose Place, NiGiNan undertook extensive research on supportive/assisted living projects for its target market.

Ambrose Place is operated using a set of practical strategies that help people reduce the negative consequences of drug use, alcoholism and mental illness by:

meeting people where they are at
focusing on improving the quality of the individual’s life, health and well-being
supporting and enabling individuals to improve their quality of life, health, and well-being
working with residents in a non-judgemental and gradual fashion

This approach has been very successful in enabling people, who have not been appropriately served by traditional facilities, to significantly improve their circumstances.
