Omamoo Wango Gamik (‘All Our Relations’) opened in 2020. It is a family site that includes young families, mosoms (grandpas), kôhkoms (grandmas), aunties, and uncles. This model has proven effective in helping families stay together while keeping children out of the Child & Family Services (CFS) system.
Under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), residents experience independent living, benefit from offered supports, and have the opportunities to build a sense of community.
The building:
contains 42 supportive housing units;
includes one and two bedroom apartments as well as five two-bedroom townhouses;
has a dedicated housing support worker;
offers access to cultural supports and Ceremonies through regular visits from the NiGiNan Cultural Team;
features a programming room complete with a kitchen and access to a roof-top patio and garden; and
is located in the diverse and historical Belvedere neighbourhood in Northeast Edmonton.
